CBV Institute is the national professional organization responsible for educating, accrediting and governing Chartered Business Valuators (CBVs) in Canada. Since 1971, it has led the development of the business valuation profession by setting rigorous standards for education, ethics and professional practice.

The CBV designation is Canada’s only professional credential dedicated exclusively to business valuation. CBVs determine the value of businesses, ownership interests and intangible assets in situations where the answer is rarely straightforward. Their expertise is used in mergers and acquisitions, succession planning, litigation, corporate finance, private equity, financial reporting and taxation.

That work is increasingly important in an age of complexity. Economic volatility, shifting interest rates, changing capital markets and the growth of private and illiquid assets have made valuation more challenging and more consequential.
